Merry Christmas!

Lots to post, but I have to get pictures off my camera first. Meanwhile, a construction update is way overdue.

The windows on the west side were put in a couple weeks ago. The window on the existing east wall is out and in the garage awaiting stripping and re-puttying, the window opening and sill have been stripped and need to be primed. It has been so wet and cold that the DH has covered it with plastic and is waiting for better weather to prime and paint it.

The rest of the work has been waiting on the electrician. We had a fixture up in the sun room that didn't have a switch. It was a mystery. Once the wall with the bookcase was gone and we could see that it had once been just one big mezzanine we thought about it again. We speculated that there had been a chandelier in there instead of the fixture that is there now. We also speculated that it had been connected to the switch for the upstairs hallway. So we had planned to have the electrician fix the electrical in the sunroom area. And while he is at it he is adding outlets. Now here is the dumb part. We never once during the three years while we wondered about that fixture checked to see if there was a working lightbulb in it! Duh!!

There was no lightbulb in there at all! Once a bulb was put in, we discovered that the light did work on the stairway switch. So the whole mezzanine is on the same switch and it doesn't need to be fixed. But the outlets will still be upgraded from the old knob and tube.

Back to the speculation. We think there was a chandelier there. The fixture there now is one from the sixties or maybe fifties and there is another just like it in our dressing area. In the spare room dressing area is a chandelier.
It doesn't fit very well--it is kind of in the way when the closet doors open.
Hmmm. The current fixture isn't showing in this picture,
it is just barely out of the photo (toward the camera). But doesn't it seem as though there should be some kind of chandelier?
Maybe there was a swap made when the wall was put in to make the sun room?
