Hard Work at the Ol' Homestead

Trench digging.

It is one of the homeowner activities that takes the biggest toll. Back-breaking work that makes a huge and overwhelming (to me) mess. At the last house EE dug trenches to put in drainage and to put in sprinkler systems. He dug trenches to repair broken water lines (broken by puppies playing or broken by age and decay). At this house he has dug trenches to trace old pipes and figure out where the heck they go and what they supply. He dug trenches to move a hose bib from the middle of the lawn to the corner of the garage. He dug trenches to route the house rain drainage to a creek-like area. I'm sure there have been trenches that I missed in this description. Exhausting, isn't it!

The most recent trenches have been for water and electrical. I already posted a little about them. They extend about 100 feet from the front yard to the laundry room. Along the way there are hose faucets and outlets--yay--but the main reason was to bring upgraded electrical connection to the laundry room and to replace a corroded and ready-to-break water line.

Here are the "after" pictures.

Thanks El Esposo!
