Jumping to Conclusions

Here is something amazing I just learned while reading my Master Gardener book...
Ladybugs are an introduced species! They aren't native, they came from Australia in 1888 to combat a citrus disease.

I guess that really does prove the point that native=good and non-native=evil is a little too simplistic.

I think there's native species, too. Have you seen the lostladybugproject(.org)? They collect peoples' photos of ladybugs in their gardens to document the populations of exotic vs. native. I was wondering the other day about slugs- introduced, right?
