Losing a Dog

For today let the picture in the banner be a tribute to a great dog: Dark Star's Gotta Dance O'Janrod, known to her family as Tap. She turned 16 in May and we were lucky to have had her those extra months. We thought she wouldn't make it past December (remember the trip to Inn at Mavericks?) but she rallied on. A little bit blind, a little bit deaf, a little bit confused at times, and always a lot ready for a meal! On Friday she was ready she was able to go peacefully in the back yard under the fig tree.

Under the fig tree is a beautiful place to say goodbye. Ben and I loved Tap. We will miss her very much and will remember the fun times: trips to the beach, riding in the bed of the truck with Tap, sleeping with Tap, walking Tap, feeding Tap treats, treats and more treats. The Seattle friends have been crying, especially Ben.

I was so sad to see this post. I know she was at the tail end of things but its always hard to see a part of the family go. We always joked that jenny ray and tap were our cousins when we were little and it's just weird to have all of them gone. I'm glad she went peacefully under a fig tree...something kinda sweet and poetic about that though.

Thanks everyone for all the support and the shared memories. It's always hard to lose a dog but we were very lucky to have had her for so long.
